Year 3 – Wild Night Out – June/July 2011

As part of our residential programme for KS2 children, year 3 participated in a ‘Wild Night Out’ experience.  They joined children from across the Federation and travelled to Killerton House.  They spent a busy night making camp, exploring the environment, badger watching and listening to camp fire stories.  All the children had a brilliant time and for some it was their first night away from home.

London Residential – May 2011

On Wednesday 4th May year 5 children from Wilcombe and Sampford Peverell travelled to London for a busy three day residential.  After arriving at Paddington Station they used the tube to travel to the Baden Powell Youth Hostel in South Kensington.  After dropping off their cases it was off to the Natural History Museum where they had to use their investigative skills to complete a quiz on skeletons.  That evening they went to Hyde Park to play football and Frisbee.

After breakfast on Thursday morning they went to the Science Museum and participated in two workshops, one about Michael Faraday and the second about Energy.  That afternoon they were given a tour of the CBBC studios where they had the opportunity to participate in The Weakest Link, Copycats and Diddy Dick and Dom.  The children learnt how blue screen TV worked and also watched the rehearsals for Watchdog.

On Friday morning it was off to Madame Tussauds to spot as many famous people as possible and even take part in X-Factor!.
